HCA Awards winners to be announced at Tool Tales!

Tool Tales

Congratulations to everyone who has entered this year’s Heritage Crafts Awards – we’ve had some fantastic entries!

The winners will be announced at ‘Tool Tales’, the Heritage Crafts Association’s 2014 Spring Conference at Carpenters’ Hall in London on Saturday 22 March 2014.

Tool Tales will focus on the relationship between craftspeople and their tools. In the morning Professor Trevor Marchand will speak about, amongst other things, the ways in which makers use tools, followed by Dr Phil Harding of Channel 4’s Time Team, a renowned flint knapper and maker of the tools for the new Stonehenge Exhibition.

In the afternoon three craftspeople at the top of their game will be explaining about the tools they use – Roger Smith, who makes hand-made watches, Daniel Evans who established London Cloth using British wool, and Grace Horne who not only makes knives but also corsets. There will be an instant gallery featuring makers’ favourite tools, with an explanation of how they are used.

All that and the announcement of the winners of the Heritage Crafts Awards! To book your place, visit the HCA website.
